AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer supporting the Georgia Port Authority, one of the largest fastest growing ports. The position will reside at the AECOM Savannah office. As a Civil Engineer - Ports & Marine Terminals, you may be involved investigation, planning, analysis, design, technical production, and construction inspection of many different types of projects including complex marine terminals, RORO, waterfront structures, conventional and automated container yards, intermodal rail, site, utilities, roadways, and other port/marine related engineering projects. This position will also support the larger Ports and Maine Transportation group.
Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures, including field investigations and research
Applies engineering principles
Perform basic engineering design tasks (conceptual, layout, and detail) and assist with detailed design work.
Assists with the coordination and communication of all project activities between departments/divisions.
Provide limited technical direction to in-house staff and sub-consultants.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry-level engineers.
Assist with the development of presentations and report submittals
Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or similar discipline
Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or ability to quickly attain
Valid US Driver’s License
2 plus year experience in a civil design engineering department
Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
Ability to assist with drawing production and detail design, and provide in-software technical guidance to designers/drafters and less experienced engineers.
Ability to participate in construction progress meetings and construction site visits.
Assist to provide technical support during construction including review of contractor’s submittals and shop drawings for conformance to design documents.
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) License or Professional Engineering (PE) License
Understands concepts of port container terminal and gate layouts
Working knowledge of Civil 3D, and AutoTURN.
Experience in construction
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
Positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
