Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Marine Terminal Planner supporting the Georgia Port Authority, one of the largest fastest growing ports. The position will reside at the AECOM Savannah office. As a Marine Terminal Planner, you will be involved in many different projects including the development of multi-phased and complex marine terminals for multiple commodities and modes of transport: general cargo, RO/RO, automobiles, conventional and automated container yards, intermodal rail, site development, port support facilities, port infrastructure improvements, and truck gates. This position will also support the larger AECOM Ports and Maine Transportation group.


  • Interfaces with clients as part of a larger engineering team to develop planning documents to realize marine terminal planning project goals, phasing requirements, site utilization goals, and develop civil works planning.

  • Shall have mastery of the interspatial and operational requirements of port systems, equipment, and their movements.

  • Will follow the project throughout the project lifecycle updating project documents as required, include final closeout.

  • We will be fully proficient in the use of computer-aided design and drafting equipment and other graphics software (e.g. CADD software) to achieve set results and deadlines.

  • Follows established procedures and requires instructions only on new assignments.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in a related discipline or AA/AS + 10 years of relevant experience or HS/GED plus 12 years of relevant experience

  • 8 plus years of relevant experience

  • 5 plus years of CAD design experience

  • Experience in marine/port terminal planning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15 plus years as a marine terminal designer

  • 10 plus years of CAD design experience

  • Experience working with marine port projects on port master planning, container terminal yard planning (conventional, RTG, and automated), truck gate planning, intermodal rail planning, deep water berth planning, Ro/Ro terminal planning, and construction phasing planning.

  • Experience with conceptual design drawings, construction phasing drawings, engineering detail drawings, as-built record drawings.
