SAIC is seeking a
System Safety Engineer to join our team of diverse GPS Systems Engineering and
Integration (SE&I) experts. The GPS SE&I Team provides specialized
engineering, analysis, operations support and subject matter expertise to the
GPS Mission. The team also provides systems engineering and analysis services
to include system development, enterprise and system architecture, acquisition,
testing, operations and sustainment support for existing and new capabilities. Finally, the team provides Environmental,
Safety, and Occupational Health (ESOH) support to the GPS System Safety
Government Team and other GPS customers.
Major duties of this position include:
Manage the GPS SE&I System Safety team, which may
include 1-3 people.
Support the GPS System Safety Government Team by evaluating
ESOH risks identified by the government, contractors, or other GPS
customers, preparation of ESOH risk evaluation and acceptance documents
and providing system safety support for Space Flight Worthiness
Document, perform, and execute changes to Government
System Safety Documents
Evaluate the contractor’s hazard analyses, mitigation
strategies, and safety assessments to advise the GPS System Safety
Evaluate the contractor’s Hazardous Materials
Management Plan for conformance with Environmental regulations and
Perform ESOH risk assessments in accordance with GPS
Program and Air Force guidance documents, and prepare ESOH risk
assessments for acceptance or for further mitigation.
Prepare documents including but not limited to: Programmatic
Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Evaluation (PESHE) and Space
Debris Assessment Report/End of Life Plan for GPS space vehicles.
Prepare and support the System Safety elements of the
GPS space vehicle Space Flight Worthiness certification.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Math, or Science
Must have an active Secret clearance to be considered for this
14+ years of overall experience, 6+ years
of system safety engineering experience
Demonstrated understanding of System Safety Engineering
practices, techniques, and procedures
Demonstrated experience working with
or for the government on a government Space systems program
Extremely motivated individual who
is a self-starter and works well in a team environment.

enable working, interfacing, and interrelating with diverse personnel and

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering,
Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a similar field.
Current active or ability to obtain
Top Secret Clearance
experience is highly desired
Experience and familiarity working
with DoD acquisition organizations
working specifically on a Systems Engineering and Integration contract.
