We are actively seeking a talented Higher Education Project Manager for immediate employment.
The candidate could sit in Washington, D.C., New York, Florida, Chicago, or Atlanta.
As a Project Manager for Higher Education projects, you will leverage your strengths in Architecture, Design, Strategy, and Project Management. Key areas of strength include attention to detail and interpersonal skills to deliver exceptional architectural projects on time and on budget. You will identify the resource needs in a complete work plan to ensure that the work process flows smoothly and act as the primary liaison between the team and client.
Your knowledge of project and client types will enable you to act as a trusted advisor to the client and complement our existing market leadership on higher education architecture and strategy + business consulting efforts. The Higher Education Project Manager possesses an understanding of University planning issues including, utilization, capacity, enrollment, and overall building/campus strategic issues relevant for Higher Education projects. With this knowledge and partnership, you will deliver on the client’s and AECOM’s business goals by acting as a strategic problem solver.
What You Will Do:
Collaborate with both Regional and National Education Market Leadership focused on the delivery of current work, and the development of new business.
In partnership with the Principal in Charge and/or Project Architect, provide project level leadership on one or multiple teams in the conception, planning and technical documentation and delivery of a wide range of projects with special emphasis on the Higher Education Market sector.
Implement one or more client projects through the leadership of project teams; Provide leadership to client and team by communicating project objectives, contract scope, terms, and schedule
Manage scheduling, budgets, staffing, and project set-up with clients, sub-contractors, vendors and contractors
Assist in preparation of project proposals and negotiate contracts and fees;
Work with client and project teams to guide the process of Bidding projects to multiple general contractors, or working with GC’s on Design/Build, or CM@R delivery methods – applying your experience and knowledge in these alternative forms of delivery in particular.
Track and manage financial performance of project for success (e.g., work plan, schedule, fees, change orders, billings and collections)
Manage project lifecycle; estimating, bidding, project kick-off, weekly coordination, punch list, turnover, opening, and project close-out
Collaborate with the Education Market leadership on the continued growth of the practice in the South East Region.
Work with the Strategy+ discipline on the completion and delivery of Strategy+ projects in the South East Region, and as needed in other Regions.
Working with the National Education Market sector leader, oversee the completion of marketing proposals, including qualifications packages, fee proposals, and project approaches
Work on a variety of projects, working as a Project Architect, Strategist, Planner/Programmer, and Project Manager
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field plus minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience
Experience includes design, documentation, and management for Higher Education clients
15 - 20 years of relevant experience in design, documentation, and management for Higher Education clients
Licensed Architect, preferred
Ability to understand and direct technical teams to resolve constructability issues
Revit/BIM knowledge as well as experience in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite Microsoft Office, and modeling/visualization software such as Rhino, SketchUp, Enscape and/or ability to direct teams using these tools to communicate project ideas to the design team, the client and our contractor colleagues
Working knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures
Ability to lead integrated design teams of varying sizes to accomplish project delivery from concept through construction document completion and may perform construction administration
Fluency in English is mandatory, another other language is an asset
Involvement with SCUP, Tradeline, and other Higher Education organizations
