Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) - Principal to join our team in McLean, Virginia.

Summary:

The lead Systems Security Engineer is responsible for multiple infrastructure and rapid prototyping projects, assisting the Sponsor in generating and maintaining security documentation for system hardware and software to include system security plans (SSPs), equipment lists, software/hardware lists, practices, procedures, etc. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as information security lead for multiple infrastructure and rapid prototyping projects
  • Develop and review security concept of operations, system security plans, security control assessments, contingency plans, POAMs, risk management plans, and security vulnerability plans.
  • Maintain security documentation for system hardware and software to include but not limited to the SSP, equipment lists, software lists, system CONOPS, system security design, implementation practices and procedures.
  • Evaluate potential security risks and take appropriate corrective actions
  • Oversee applicable patching.
  • Work with engineers and system administrators to resolve system issues, and develop mitigation and remediation strategies.
  • Scan systems and report findings.
  • Review security test results to identify weaknesses, technical flaws, and vulnerabilities.
  • Implement security engineering principles to review security requirements, verify implementation, and provide mitigation recommendations for A&A process.
  • Recommend technical process improvements for the A&A process and document the system capabilities.
  • Assess, verify and support the implementation of security controls.
  • Manage the POA&Ms for the system ensuring milestones are met.
  • Enforce INFOSEC policies and procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information assurance, or 4 years of equivalent experience. Equivalent experience in an information assurance or ISSE role is acceptable
  • 7 years relevant experience in information assurance or information security engineering or 10 years relevant experience in an IT role such as network administration or system administration
  • 5 years direct customer experience working on A&A security packages

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the risk management framework process, as well as utilizing security tools to scan systems
  • Ability to effectively communicate – in writing and verbally - with different levels of internal and external customers
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • TS/SCI with polygraph

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
  • Often positions self to maintain computers in the lab, including under the desks and in the server closet.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • May be asked to move Audio/Visual or Computer equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across and/or around a business campus or large facility.
