Tool & Gage Technician

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Independently sets and adjusts gages to standards required by manufacturing and Assembly and Test departments.
  • Skilled in the use of gage blocks, horizontal trimos and other gage setting devices.
  • Maintain electronic inventory records using SAP or other systems, as well as gage calibration records, for all gages issued and returned from the manufacturing, Assembly and Test departments, and outside vendors.
  • Attend to the receiving, handling, storing, issuing and delivery of perishable tooling, fixtures, gages, shop supplies, and safety items (PPE).
  • Working knowledge of SAP as it applies to the department.
  • Must be able to work in a self-directed atmosphere and also be able to work in a team environment interfacing with internal and external associates.
  • Must be able to relate to and maintain a high customer satisfaction rating.
  • Must be able to solve problems of routine to moderate scope referring all other problems to more experienced staff or to the department Supervisor or Manager.
  • Knowledge of gage setting, perishable cutting tools, grinding wheels, fixtures and abrasive products is required.

Preferred Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

  • High School Education
  • 2-5 years comparable experience
  • Basic computer skills is required but will train as needed to specific applications.
  • Microsoft Office
  • AssetWorks or compatible software experience
  • SAP or compatible MRP system experience
  • Able to lift 40 pounds
