SAIC is seeking a skilled Technical Writer to develop and edit technical documents related to the development of communication payloads for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in our San Diego, CA location. The tech writers products will be used to convey technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
This position is contingent upon award of contract.
This job may be temporarily remote due to COVID-19.
Job duties may include:
Analyzing subject matter and audience in order to plan clear and accurate presentation of materials.
Creating detailed instructions for others to follow.
Assisting in the production of technical materials.
Capturing and edit photographs as necessary for use in documentation.
Using substantive writing, editing, and technical communication skills to develop training guides, and operating, installation, troubleshooting, or maintenance manuals associated with the technical equipment and systems.
Reviewing and update existing technical documentation, including managing and tracking document lifecycles.
Developing written communication materials for a wide range of internal and external audiences. Determine which style and structure is best suited for the intended audience.
Creating software documents such as use cases, test plans, and user guides.
Analyzing, coordinate, and compile technical information into technical publications.
Ensuring technical information is properly documented.
Implementing technical communication and software quality assurance best practices and procedures.
Communicating technological developments to experts, end users, and other audiences.
Delivering quality products in a fast-paced and dynamic engineering environment.
Required Education & Experience: • Bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years of experience as a technical writer drafting technical manuals, test plans, procedures and/or developing presentation material
Active Secret security clearance and US Citizenship
Capabilities that build positive working relationships with a variety of Government and Contractor personnel
Ability to successfully collaborate as a Team in the classified facility environment.
