SAIC is seeking a Development Software Engineering Manager to join the team in Washington DC.  This role may be temporarily worked remote due to COVID 19.  As part of an Engineering Support Services (ESS) Team that supports the PEO IWS 1.0 AEGIS Weapon System Program, this Software Engineering Manger will support the new DevSecOps Assistant Program Manager (APM). 

The selected applicant will apply DevSecOps practices to rapidly and securely produce and deliver AEGIS Weapon System (AWS) computer program upgrades to 100 US Navy cruisers and destroyers while those ships are conducting maintenance availabilities, while in port and while at sea conducting operations around the world.  Specifically, the candidate will help create development, cyber security, safety, certification and continuous delivery processes associated the DevSecOps framework. 


Additionally, the Software Engineering Manager will ensure these processes are updated to support the current AEGIS transition from traditional waterfall managed baseline deliveries to continuous agile capability development and deployment.  The selected candidate will ensure these processes are aligned across all stakeholders and will institute a program to train the community. 

This challenging and rewarding effort will involve identifying financial, personnel and IT resource requirements, conducting market research of tools and computing infrastructure, executing trade studies and drafting vendor contract requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Modernize the Navy’s Combat System data and transport architecture, to include using commercial industry best practices for software modernization.
  • Investigate innovative ways to leverage future capabilities like artificial intelligence and machine learning to increase warfighting lethality.
  • Support the Chief of Naval Operations vision to use commercial technology and open standards for maximum agility, speed of capability delivery and joint/coalition interoperability.
  • Reduce Cyber Security Risk Management Framework accreditation timelines, and will enable improved cyber security monitoring.


Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.

Required Skills:
Extensive knowledge of the DEVSECOPS pipeline and tools (e.g., Jira).   
Team player capable of executing independent work who pays attention to detail.  
Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential. 
Must effectively communicate with high-level Military, Government, and Contractor personnel.  
Self-starter, energetic.  

Solid MS Word and PowerPoint skills.  
Ability to see a problem and identify solutions.  
Capable of completing tasks on time and communicating status. 

Required Clearance:
A US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.  An active Secret clearance is required to be considered for this opening.
