Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Civil Engineering Project Manager to join our Savannah, Georgia transportation design team. AECOM Transportation Business Line in Savannah provides a wide variety of civil transportation services to Georgia Port Authority and other southeast federal, state, county, and municipal clients. The appropriately qualified applicant will have demonstrated experience in project management, business development, design, and analysis for civil engineering and large site development projects.

Responsible for performing engineering activities to support planning, designing, construction, maintenance, and alteration of buildings, highways, water/sewage systems, and transportation system projects. Includes estimating and determining feasibility based on analysis of maps/aerial photographs, soil composition, terrain, hydrology, geology, and environmental impact studies. This role requires an understanding of how to formulate a project from conceptualization, preliminary design, permitting, detail design and specification, bid solicitation, bid review, project award, submittal review, construction inspection, RFI response, final inspection and punch list, and preparation of record drawings.

Responsibilities include:

  • May manage all phases of a project’s lifecycle (from conceptualization to closeout).

  • Manages, under the direction of Senior Program Manager, multiple including planning, directing and supervising all aspects of the project financial results, client satisfaction, safety, and quality

  • Manages one or more moderately complex project, involving a combination of the following:

  • May supervise: senior level engineers (all disciplines applicable), as well as project administration, project controls, scheduling, cost control, estimating and procurement representatives.

  • Lead engineering teams consisting of entry-level engineers and technicians to develop civil infrastructure design plans and large site development projects in the state of Georgia, its municipalities, and the surrounding region.

  • Be Engineer of Record on large civil engineering projects

  • Oversee the work of engineers and technicians to ensure quality design and analysis work consistent with current government policies and guidelines

  • Organizes project assignments under mentorship and training of supervision of management staff

  • Perform project scoping and budget development for civil engineering projects

  • Develops strong client relationships, both internal and external to the project team, and enhances project Performance

  • Participate in Client meetings and permit application meetings as part of design projects

  • Responsible for identifying potential pursuits, marketing clients and leading proposal efforts.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

  • Six (6) yrs of experience related to civil engineering projects and large site development projects

  • Minimum four (4) years of experience managing civil engineering projects and large site development projects

  • Ability to scope/estimate complex civil infrastructure projects

  • Ability to Track and manage multiple project budgets and schedules

  • Ability to supervise and train entry-level engineers.

  • Computer skills using a spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software

  • Proficient in appropriate technical analysis software

  • Possess knowledge of design and construction management practices

  • Diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas related to stormwater, roadway geometric design, utilities, infrastructure, earthwork, and streetscape

  • Valid driver's license required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Eight (8) yrs of experience related to civil engineering projects and large site development
