The Environmental team in Edmonton is seeking a self-motivated, team oriented Environmental Technician or work on the Pigeon Lake Project. This position is preferably based in the Edmonton Office (20%), and will involve field work (80%) in the Pigeon Lake region and other locations in Alberta.
Perform environmental sampling (soil and groundwater) with the ability to understand and follow standard operation procedures, under the direction of an Environmental Site Supervisor
Collection of organized and detailed field notes.
Perform site visits and field observations
Assisting with biological field programs, including vegetation, rare plant surveys, ecological land classification, wetland, wildlife, species at risk, soil classification and/or monitoring surveys
Learn applicable IOGC and AER regulations
Coordinating and preparing environmental approvals and permits required for projects including Federal, Provincial and Municipal permits
Assist with preparing health and safety and quality management plans
Working with the Project Manager and Field coordinator in the office to learn about the coordination and management of field programs
Maintaining field equipment which includes but is not limited to: calibrating equipment, ordering rental equipment, and keeping inventory of equipment
Performs routine fieldwork as a trainee (such as environmental sampling, assisting with calculations, and operations, maintenance and inspection of equipment of client site), working under close supervision.
Performs routine tasks in support of project staff and handles less complex duties.
1 year + experience in the environmental and/or oil and gas industry
Experience in environmental sampling, reclamation or remediation
Interest in the environmental and/or oil and gas industry
