Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced environmental database administrator (DBA) for our enterprise environmental data system (EarthSoft EQuIS). The ideal candidate will be able to understand requests from environmental subject matter experts, be a good communicator able to share new functions and features with the users and have a good understanding of environmental data and environmental data terminology.

This role will include but may not be limited to the following activities:

  • Leading/Coordinating the quarterly upgrade process for the AECOM Enterprise EQuIS system, working with EQuIS power users and Senior DBA, AECOM IT and the vendor (EarthSoft)

  • Reviewing release notes and conducting impact assessments

  • Developing communications related to system maintenance, outages, functional enhancements

  • Establishing user access levels and accounts

  • Creating new database instances and project, program, site hierarchies in line with system governance requirements (nomenclature rules, hierarchy defaults, etc.)

  • Supporting user requests related to new or revised reports, queries, views, dashboards

  • Troubleshooting and issues resolution related to user submitted issues

  • Submitting vendor tickets and monitoring progress on issue resolution with the vendor. Providing updates to the wider team.

  • Supporting the Senior DBA on communication of training opportunities and vendor sessions.

  • Providing Q&A/Tips & Tricks via internal communication platforms

  • Supporting the field form configuration team in the development of updated or new forms (following existing forms governance polies and procedures)

  • Providing monitoring and maintenance on all instances (Sandbox-consolidating request to vendor on this vendor supported instance, Test, Prod)

  • Supporting project/program/client specific legacy data migrations as needed/requested

  • Working collaboratively with EQuIS DBA counterparts in EMIA and APAC.

  • Participating in the EQuIS Governance Team

  • Providing knowledge transfer and mentoring as requested to offshore IT resources

This position could be based remotely anywhere in the United States.

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years prior experience in a database administrator role.

  • Experience with environmental sampling data sets.

  • Experience with Azure SQL Database and Web App deployments

  • Experience in developing custom reports and user requested queries and views

  • Experience in configuring dashboards preferred

  • Experience in developing configurable data entry forms preferred

  • Responsive to client (user) requests

  • Excellent communication skills
