Job Summary

Aecom Burnaby is looking for a Structural Civil CAD Technologist. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Works under limited supervision.

  • Performs both routine and non-routine, complex drafting assignments that require judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations.

  • Uses applications to scale and edit assignments involving the use of computer aided design and drafting equipment and other graphics software (e.g. CADD software) to achieve set results and deadlines.

  • Digitize or trace sketches or concepts from designers using CADD software, such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.

  • Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines.

  • Follows specific, standardized procedures to achieve set results and deadlines.

  • Receives little instruction on daily work and general instructions on new assignments.

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + 4 years of related experience OR 6 YORE or Diploma/Certificate OR 6 YORE or Highschool + 8 YORE

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in designing/drafting transportation, water resource structures using AutoCAD and MicroStation

  • 6+ years of technical experience is preferred

  • Experience in working with BCMoT, TransLink, Municipal and Metro Vancouver projects

  • Certified or eligible for CET (Certified Engineering Technician)

  • 6+ years Auto CAD with excellent working knowledge of latest version of Auto CAD

  • 2-5 years MicroStation would be beneficial

  • BIM Revit experience would be beneficial

  • Working knowledge of databases, GIS

  • Good time management skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, and clients
