Title:

Technical Writer

KBR is seeking a full-time Technical Writer (TW) to support MQ-4, MQ-8, MQ-9, and/or MQ-25 unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization NATOPS and Naval Aviation Technical Information Products NATIP.

The TW researches, organizes, writes, develops, edits, and produces NATOPS and NATIP products, to include developing new NATOPS and NATIP publications, revisions, change packages, and interim changes. The TW should be adept at detailed research using a wide variety of complex technical publications to gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the subject matter and allied fields. The TW will coordinate with outside sources and vendors, such as engineers, fleet operators, and flight testers in order to produce system and functional descriptions and normal and emergency procedures for NATOPS and NATIP. The TW must be familiar with NATOPS and NATIP editing standards and requirements as specified in OPNAV 3710 and MIL-DTL-80825.

The successful candidate will:

  • Perform research using large amounts of disparate source materials including drawings, specifications, and diagrams in order to become knowledgeable of various unmanned aircraft systems and capabilities.
  • Confer with customers, contractors, engineers, and operators to distill technical information into easily understandable descriptions and procedures.
  • Possess a working knowledge of NATOPS and NATIP publishing requirements, including experience with NAVAIR Airworthiness & CYBERSAFE Office airworthiness and e.POWER flight clearance processes.
  • Possess the ability to maintain strict configuration management and traceability of documents and revisions throughout the development, editing, review, and release process.
  • Possess the ability to clearly and concisely organize material and complete writing assignments with clarity, correct terminology, and grammar in accordance with governing standards and styles.
  • Possess skills in desktop publishing, MS Office suite, and Adobe Pro.
  • Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years DoD Aviation Operator or Maintenance Management experience is required.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Six (6) years DoD Aviation experience and an associate degree may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Ten (10) years DoD Aviation experience may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
