AECOM is looking for the right person to help us grow our Environmental practice in Northern California, focusing on hazardous waste site assessment, remediation and multi-media compliance management.
This position is located in our Oakland office. Responsible for the development, growth, senior technical oversight, and execution of hazardous waste site assessment and remediation projects/programs. Leverages existing client relationships, on-call contracts and projects and develops new opportunities.
Works diligently with the Regional Manager and other AECOM environmental team leaders to build new client relationships and develop projects. Works independently and as integral team member/leader, using knowledge of industry and/or professional guidelines and protocols to accomplish goals and objectives and solve problems of diverse scope. This is an exciting and challenging position that requires exceptional verbal and written communication skills and a highly organized and responsive candidate, capable of working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities.
As a practice builder/doer seller, identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take an active leadership role in the development of new business with new and existing clients. Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business.
Through a combination of excellence in technical delivery and business dveloment, capitalize on existing client relationships to expand market share in the local market, while serving national/global clients as necessary.
Oversee environmental site assessments, soil and groundwater assessments, feasibility studies, remedial action plans, remediation system design/operation, construction and industrial storm water plans, multi-media compliance efforts, and other supporting technical studies.
Oversee large programs and multiple projects simultaneously within scope, schedule and ensure quality is achieved on project deliverables.
Provide leadership in managing staff performance, recruiting and retention, and mentoring personnel for overall success of practice and team.
Develop a working understanding of AECOM's other core service lines and support cross-selling goals.
Focus will be on resource planning and sharing across boundaries, results-oriented delivery, and staying current with relevant technology and innovation.
BA/BS in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Must have valid, U.S. Driver's license.
Due to the nature of the work, must be a U.S. Citizen.
12+ years of related experience, with 5+ years demonstrating successful development and management of environmental programs and demonstrated achievements in selling environmental consulting services.
2+ years of client account management and project/program management experience.
Certification/Registration: Related professional certifications preferred.
Proven business development experience for large programs/contracts and client relationships supported by repeat business, including established contacts in California, with a history of delivering annual sales goals and building a practice.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, and be client focused to understand and appropriately respond to clients business needs.
Proficient knowledge of federal, state and local agencies, laws, regulations, and permitting requirements.
