Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, creative, and highly talented Project Controls Manager with Higher Education and K-12 experience to join our Program and Project Management Group in Coral Gables, Florida area. Project Controls Manager is responsible for the day to day management, administration and coordination of the Project Controls function. This person will be responsible but not limited to the following:

  • This includes assurance of consistent use and application of P6 scheduling software as well as cost control software, (project control tools), roll-up & analysis of data and metrics for projects on a global basis.

  • At a project level, the function includes monitoring of planning, schedule, cost and progress measurement obligations of the contracts, and support of the project & construction management teams with resource coordination and problem solving.

  • Must show experience leading cost controls, concentrating on project/progress reporting, developing cash flow analysis, dashboard solutions, change management, lean scheduling, pull planning and short interval planning schedules, audit and working with oversight committees.

  • Provide supervision of a project or multiple projects to achieve success

  • Experience facilitating risk sessions, building risk registers & performing risk analysis (Mont Carlo simulations) to ensure achieving projects’ objectives.

  • Responsible for the development of the project plan and project charter to orchestrate, timescales, monitoring and controls

  • Responsible for working with owner in understanding the overarching structure, processes and procedures to accomplish objectives

  • Responsible for developing metrics of success and deliverables – alignment entails top-down vision, goals, and objectives from business strategy flowing through to successful completion of projects for program objectives

  • Responsible for optimization of performance across program platforms to achieve the best functional and technical value

  • Management of all program or project financial elements to include change management, and overall cost control

  • Maintain data quality in all aspects of the program / project.

  • Maximize the efficiency and proper use of all project software, proficient in e-Builder PMIS system Participate in upgrading program project control system.

  • Perform all controlled distribution of printed and electronic information including drawings, specifications, and addenda etc. for the project

  • Develop and run daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly processes and reports as required

  • Provide superior internal and external customer service

Project Set Up & Execution

  • Oversight of change management on projects

  • Confirm that each project team has established the proper project controls tools to execute and manage the project from a cost, schedule and progress perspective

  • Assure that change management, risk management, and contingency management processes are established and functioning on each project

  • Confirm that trending and forecasting processes are established on each project

  • Analyzing/Report/Audits/Closeout

  • Participate in project monthly forecasting meetings

  • Monitor and analyze project cost and schedule performance, recommend corrective actions to the project management team to improve project performance

  • Support project short interval planning schedules

Additional Job Description:

  • Skilled in the development of commercial strategies. Capable of participating in negotiations.

  • Requires a demonstrated ability to effectively lead the project controls function on a medium to large project.

  • Documents employee performance issues and plays an instrumental role in resolution as appropriate.

  • Assumes mentoring and training roles as requested and identifies high potential employees to management.

  • Conducts root cause analysis.

  • Drafts comprehensive project procedures.

  • Possesses proven knowledge of scope control and change management.

  • Utilizes extensive knowledge of construction contracting including the manner in which contract type effects implementation of project controls systems.

  • Reviews performance trends, prepares analysis and cost impact and monthly project performance reports, and recommends contractor invoices for approval.

  • Evaluates manpower, labor hour, and labor cost requirements versus budget limitations.

  • Oversees the production and maintenance of accurate project schedules. Expert understanding of schedule resource loading and leveling.

  • Assists the Project Manager in budgeting and managing incentive programs.

  • Holds an expert understanding of schedule, critical path analysis, resource loading and leveling.

  • Establishes and maintains client relationships.

  • Has the ability to review and analyze project program and oversee the production of accurate progress/performance reports.

  • Able to review and assess (as required) raw data that comes from project automated systems.

  • Serves as a key participant in client and/or subcontractor negotiations

  • Participates in staffing decisions for projects.

  • Ensures that a tracking database is developed and maintained to cross check subcontractor funding is aligned with work authorization and expenditures.

  • Involved in tracking system to insure that Project Management team is fully aware of detailed change order status.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership
