Discipline Manager - Transport

We are excited to announce that KBR and Laing O’Rourke will join forces to deliver More Trains More Services Stage 2, south works package. The team will upgrade the T4 Eastern Suburbs, Illawarra Line and the South Coast Line as part of the first package of works. This is a big win for the KBR team and as part of our growth plan, an exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced leader to manage our NSW Transport Discipline.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee a 20 strong team who are delivering a variety of projects across NSW
  • Oversee project execution and work directly in significant projects
  • Guide and coach more junior and mid-career engineers, designers and drafters in the preparation of models, designs, drawings and undertake review of these drawings
  • Liaise with clients, statutory authorities and other consultants
  • Maintain and develop key client relationships
  • Focus on business development activities and winning new work

Qualifications & Key Skills

  • Bachelor of Civil/Structural Engineering preferred
  • Registration as a Chartered Engineer/Chartered Professional Engineer/RPEQ (or the ability to become so within 6 months)
  • 15+ years previous consulting / design / technical experience in the infrastructure field as a professional engineer
  • Demonstrated practical record of managing teams of professionals
  • Broad competence and experience in the practice of the design of transport infrastructure engineering, desirably in a consulting and project environment.
  • Ability to technically lead a project engineering team to deliver major work packages for a large multi-disciplinary project according to scope, budget and schedule
  • Project management and proposal preparation experience along with the ability to write clearly and fluently about technical subjects or project delivery methodologies
  • Competence in preparing and reviewing reports and technical specifications
