Description

SAIC is looking for a Sr. Network Engineer to support the NASA NICS program at Goddard Space in Greenbelt, MD.

 

A successful candidate will be part of a Network Engineering team responsible for the design of the LAN at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC).  GSFC has remote sites including Goddard during an amazing period in NASA’s history.  This network supports NASA’s Artemis Program (which will return Americans to the moon) and the Mars Exploration Program among many, many others. 

 
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • The candidate will lead activities related to NASA Corporate network total life-cycle support to include requirements gathering, designing, implementing, and maintaining.
  • Network Engineering support for a 3 layer campus architecture consisting of hundreds of both Juniper and Cisco switches and routers that provide LAN connectivity as well as VoIP, Collaboration, and wireless services.
  • Support Multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) network and zone architecture
  • Planning for the transition of GSFC’s LAN into a Software-Defined Architecture utilizing Cisco’s DNAC Appliance and Identity Services Engine (ISE).
  • Detailed design and implementation of the transition of both new and existing Cisco routers and switches into the SDA fabric. 

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience OR High School Diploma and 13 years of related experience.
  • 4 years of related experience accepted in lieu of degree.
Required Skills:
  • The candidate must have excellent oral and written skills and be able to present technical information in formal presentations to both internal and external customers.  
  • Candidate must have extensive experience with Cisco campus networks. 
  • The candidate must have a concrete working knowledge of LAN network design, routed data protocols and hardware platforms.  
  • Candidate must be a self-starter, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, able to develop technical guidance documents and multitasking between multiple ongoing projects to ensure customer requirements and timelines are met.
Clearance:
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust.
 Desired Skills:       
  • Aruba wireless experience
  • Fortigate firewall management
  • Experience with Cisco ISE and Cisco Software Defined Access (SDA).  
  • Additional experience supporting large-scale networks in an enterprise environment is preferred.  
Certifications / Training:
  • Advanced vendor certifications including: CCNA/CCNP/CCIE.
Travel (if any):
  • Possible travel to other NASA facilities
