LCV NORTHCOM: Welder

Job Summary

Reports to and receives assignments, instructions, and direction from the Foreman or General Foreman. Reads and interprets instructions and documentation and plans work activities. Moves materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site. Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, and building and bridge parts. Installs structural parts, components, and assemblies in support of all construction and maintenance activities. Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Performs other duties and activities as directed. Typically requires 3-5 years of related experience.

• Must be able to pass a test for structural welding on carbon steel base metal using the SMAW process
• Must be able to weld high alloy (stainless steel) and non-ferrous (aluminum and nickel alloys) base metals using the GTAW and GMAW processes
• Must have cutting experience of ferrous (carbon, low-alloy, and stainless steels) and non-ferrous (aluminum and nickel alloys) base metals using both the oxy-acetylene and plasma arc processes
• Must have experience in torch brazing
