KBR is seeking a highly qualified and experienced mechanics to fill a vacancies as maintenance shop foremen in our automotive maintenance shops on the APS-3 program

About the program:

KBR executes a contract for the US Army to provide Maintenance and Logistics services for the Army’s Prepositioned Warstock Set #3 (APS-3) at the Army Field Support Battalion - Charleston, located on the Charleston Naval Weapons Station. The Maintenance Department consists of 180-210 employees in nine maintenance shops across 12 facilities, and provides Field Level Maintenance on the full spectrum combat and tactical equipment assigned to the program.

Position Description:

The Shop Foreman is the first line supervisor to a team of mechanics, with a direct reporting relationship to the Shop Supervisor. Responsible for supervising 8-15 employees in the performance of automotive maintenance on military vehicles, associated platforms, and trailers. Drives team members to complete production requirements on schedule, safely, and to the customer’s specified quality level. Leads kick off meetings with their team at the start of shift to assign work and receive work progress updates. Coaches, mentors, trains, and develops team members as well as participates in maintenance tasks as necessary to achieve desired results.

This is an exempt position.

Work is generally conducted in a maintenance shop environment, and out of doors environment, with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain work areas. Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking within work areas can be expected.

Plans, organizes and leads day to day activities of one or more departmental or functional activities. Responsible for implementing training requirements and monitoring employee performance. Establishes production standards, monitors compliance, and recommends operational improvements. Assist the manager in accomplishing the short and long term goals for the department/function. Maintains employee compliance with safety policies and procedures. Insures compliance with applicable government regulations. Skills are typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree and 5-7 years of experience.

Specific Responsibilities:

Production: Responsible for delivering weekly goals and objectives established by the Shop Supervisor to meet department production schedules. Plans and assigns work to team members. Responsible for care and accountability of all assigned government furnished vehicles, tools, and property. Enforces department and program policies and procedures. Recommends personnel actions.

Safely: Responsible for enforcing Health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment is provided for our employees, and OSHA requirements are met. Commits to and advocates a Zero Harm safety culture.

Quality: Enforces use of technical references, Built in Quality checklists, and other resources to ensure the workmanship of completed jobs meet customer expectations. May work directly with the customer to present completed products for acceptance inspections. Uses quality performance metrics to analyze and correct substandard quality workmanship trends through training and other actions.

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate with formal education in automotive maintenance, 8 years of mechanic experience, plus 1 year supervisory or team leadership experience, or
  • 12 years of progressive experience in automotive maintenance and plus 2 years of relevant supervisory experience may be considered in lieu of formal education, or
  • A combination of some college plus military training in a maintenance MOS plus 8 years’ experience in progressive leadership positions may be considered in lieu of other formal education
  • Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.
  • Possess a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator License
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Must obtain and maintain local base access.
  • Must obtain and maintain Common Access Card (CAC) requirements.
  • Familiarity with AWRDS is a plus
  • Quality control / quality assurance training or QMS experience is a plus
  • Military experience in maintenance management / supervision is a plus
