This position is to provide systems engineering support to systems that provide a cohesive navigation and tactical C2 capability to client assets. The system is based on a common architecture which is integrated and synchronized across three, otherwise independent, applications. This integrated system provides operational users with a common tactical picture of the maritime domain enabling them to make fast and effective decisions during high-risk shipboard operations. This forms the backbone that provides the operators with situational awareness at sea for effective execution of missions. Another application provides the Maritime Domain Awareness to meet the information needs of operational decision makers at sea, on shore, and in the air. This application gathers, processes, and presents real-time, near real-time, and stored mission critical information to aid in mission planning, coordination, and prosecution using a Common Operational Picture (COP) that is shared among clients.
These systems require developmental, testing, and integration support due to a continuously evolving system of systems design maintenance. This is currently achieved through the use of Agile Development Methodologies (e.g., Scrum) with multiple sprint teams supporting development and IA patching.
Provide daily support to customer in analyzing and identifying COTS, GOTS, and Open Source software applications to meet the requirements. Software integration shall be completed using an Agile Scrum Methodology (e.g., Scrum).
Provide daily support for the development, integration, and management of software from initial conception and planning, through design and development, maintenance, improvement, and conversion. Software development shall be completed using an Agile Scrum Methodology (e.g., Scrum).
Provide daily support management and development of Virtual Machine (VM) and containerized environments.
Conduct studies related to information systems planning as well as the sizing and designing of computer systems on which new or existing software will operate as directed by the customer.
Maintain and use configuration management tools (e.g., subversion and git) provided by the Government.
Support installation, testing, verification, repair, diagnostic analysis, and calibration of various systems.
Provide support for system hardware, simulator, and sensor troubleshooting and support of laboratories, training classrooms, and fielded systems.
Ensure lab hardware baselines are properly configured to support all development and testing activities.
Provide Space, Weight, and Power (SWAP) specifications for identified hardware components.
Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific engineering projects.
Develops solutions to a variety of engineering problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Performs systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the end.
Oversight of moderately complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
Performs continual maintenance of security, including backup and redundancy strategies.
Prepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects.
Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 2+ years of experience
