As Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be involved in the operation, design and specification of a wide variety of transmission and distribution networks. In addition to electrical engineering responsibilities, this role will encourage business development and project management skills which will involve participating in client engagements, assisting with bids and proposals, and applying AECOM’s safety, environmental, quality and project management systems. There will also be the opportunity to start the training and development required to become an AECOM-certified project manager, with possible career development towards large, multi-disciplinary, infrastructure projects.
Experience of design or management in at least one of the following areas is required. Additionally, broader experience across several of the following areas would be advantageous:
Underground cables at voltages of 110 kV and higher.
Submarine cables at voltages of 110 kV and higher.
Load flow and fault studies, using commercially available software e.g. DigSilent, ETAP, PSSE, PScad etc.
Earthing system studies and design using commercially available software such as CDEGS or similar.
Lightning protection system risk assessment.
Grid connection process.
Specification of electrical plant items, e.g. transformers, circuit breakers, diesel generator sets etc.
HVDC systems and interconnectors.
Control and protection systems
Auditing of HV construction projects for substations and/or cable, for voltages of 110 kV or higher.
Experience of working at EHV transmission voltages
Experience of working in teams.
Customer facing skills.
An ability to work flexibly across a broad range of projects
The vision and skills to apply emerging technologies to meet new project requirements
Previous experience as a consultant would be advantageous
BSc/BEng Electrical Engineering (Hons) or MEng.
Be working towards, or have already achieved, Chartered Engineer status.
