Description

SAIC is in need of a Material Planner/ Control Tech II to support our Joint Range Extension (JRE) Products Integration Group in San Diego, CA. 


The Material Planner/ Control Tech II plans, prepares, issues and assist with meeting production schedules and coordinates the material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet Open Deliverables schedule. Develops raw material requirements and scheduling the requirements from engineering specifications and production schedules and plans and assist in the material movement with purchasing, warehouse, and production


The Material Planner/ Control Tech II is responsible for preparing purchase requisitions using Costpoint System as well as compiling and maintaining manual or computerized records. Candidate is tasked with providing support with asset management, confirmation of material receipts, and will report to the Project Manager and Logistics Lead.


The Material Planner/ Control Tech II will also be responsible for:

  • Reviewing production schedules and related information and confers with department leads to determine material requirements.
  • Requisitioning materials and ensuring material preparation is complete, according to job order priorities.
  • Initiating internal movement or transfer of materials to meet production schedules.
  • Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production or vendor problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed. 
  • Confirms material supply and demands to support requests from Production Department requesting components or parts based on a master production schedule.
  • Coordinating with departments to ensure efficient movement of all materials and evaluate all materials issued for production.
  • Utilizing product life cycle management software and Microsoft SharePoint 
  • Ensuring the execution and continuous improvement of standard logistics’ processes. 
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to adapt to changing work efforts and manage shifting priorities

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. and two (2) years or more of related experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and capable of obtaining a Public Trust security clearance.
  • Logistics experience in industry or Government supporting manufacturing, electronic/electrical installation, upgrade, and refurbishment of equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand Manufacturing Drawings, including Top Assembly and Sub Assembly structured drawings
  • Familiarity with the structure of Bill of Materials for fabrication
  • Minimum three years of warehouse experience at facility involved in the following tasks:
    • Logistics experience in industry or Government supporting the acquisition, distribution of materials, equipment, and resources.
    • Experience with Cost Point and life cycle management software to support Contractor Acquired Property and Government Furnished Property inventory requirements
    • Experience creating work products and utilizing functions in Microsoft Office Programs (Word and Excel)
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Costpoint Experience (Parts Master File, Purchase Requisition, Bill of Materials, CMR Modules)
  • Materials background and excellent record keeping skills
  • Ability to interact with various departments to accomplish common goals
  • To be organized, detail oriented, a self-starter, demonstrate strong time management skills, and be able to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects with limited supervision in a fast paced environment
  • The ability to obtain a Security Clearance should the need arise.
