Job Summary

Are you ready to put your engineering leadership and highway design abilities to work on marquee transportation and infrastructure design projects that will change the transportation fabric of Michigan for the better?

AECOM is seeking a highly talented, driven and motivated Design / Build engineering leader to successful deliver design excellence for D/B Highway Projects in Grand Rapids and throughout Michigan. This position will be responsible for leading and mentoring Deputy Project managers and project teams with planning, designing, and overseeing civil engineering projects involving highways, surface drainage, and utilities infrastructure.

  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for Highway D/B team

  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.

  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.

  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.

  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.

  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.

  • Prepares technical specification sections.

  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + 6 YORE or AA/AS (US) + 8 YORE

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS or MS (highly preferred) in Civil Engineering

  • Expert knowledge of the design-build process, including preparing design plans, risk mitigation procedures, and contract structure

  • Knowledge of other alternative delivery methods and Michigan Department of Transportation, or other State DOTs, standards, processes and procedures

  • 7+ years of previous design experience on transportation projects including Schematic Development and Preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E)

  • PE in the state of Michigan or ability to attain reciprocity within six (6) months

  • Experience designing highway/roadway systems

  • Experience with design software including MicroStation and GEOPAK and/or

  • Familiar with OpenRoads, MS Office 2010 software (Excel, Word, Project)
