AECOM is currently seeking an intermediate to senior level Civil Engineer to build on the depth of talent within our specialist Municipal team, for a position based in Fort McMurray, AB. Our dynamic and supportive team will provide you an opportunity to lead a wide-variety of projects and mentor developing team members.
The responsibilities of this position include, but not limited to:
Be a prominent member of the Municipal Engineering team in northern Alberta, with key responsibilities for projects in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and surrounding areas.
Play a key role in business development, client relations, proposal preparation, and client satisfaction.
Maintain strong relationships with clients and develop new business opportunities
Prepare proposals, including methodology, schedule, resources, fees and cost estimates
Support business development pursuits primarily within Alberta and the NWT
Represent AECOM on a local level and stay informed about local issues, challenges and opportunities.
Liaison with the Edmonton office staff and field staff assigned to project
Work cooperatively with an experienced team in a wide-variety of municipal opportunities
Be involved in a wide variety and multiple projects design and construction, across disciplines including storm water, water and sanitary sewers, roadways, drainage, etc.
Lead wide variety multi-disciplinary projects and working cooperatively with other professional disciplines such landscape architecture, electrical, structural, mechanical, architectural environmental and legal survey, as may be necessary.
Preparing written reports and public presentations and be involved in stakeholder engagement
Provide technical leadership associated with all aspects of projects, including delivery excellence, quality control and safe work practices.
Conduct field investigations for municipal projects, occasionally in remote areas
Interacting directly with clients, approving authorities, contractors and utility providers and problem-solving a variety of complex design and construction elements, as well as developing practical cost-effective solutions.
Manage projects, project budgets and schedules independently or as a member of multi-disciplinary teams
Providing guidance and advice to developing engineers and review designs and reports
Coordination with sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public may be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives.
Taking responsibility for the quality of written, technical and graphic work in a senior review (QA/QC) role
Bachelor's degree +8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in Alberta, or eligibility for registration within next six months is required
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and background in municipal engineering
10+ years progressive experience in that field with a minimum of 5 years in Canada
Experience in successful client relations and business development.
Good understanding of municipal engineering and civil works
Good understanding of environmental permitting processes and procedures
Extensive experience in working at project management level
Excellent oral and written English language presentation skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint
Demonstrated project and team management skills with a high degree of leadership capability
Excellent skills in preparing written proposals, reports and public presentations
Strong interpersonal skills.
Strong and successful background in client relations and business development
Highly developed communication skills.
Proven leadership skills, with a proven track-record of successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
