Job Summary

Shimmick Construction, an AECOM Co., is looking to hire an experienced Safety Manager in San Francisco CA. This challenging position will provide an excellent growth opportunity while improving the infrastructure of the city.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Provides leadership and support to Operations to help the organization achieve SH&E goals and objectives

  • Assists the business to meet regulatory requirements relating to specific SH&E obligations

  • Review all Job Hazard Analyses and Site Specific Safety Plans prepared by trade contractors to ensure conformance to AECOM safety requirements and standards

  • Oversee daily Safety Review Meetings, Safety Orientation Training Meetings, and Toolbox Safety Meetings with personnel

  • Review and oversee the field operations of all contractors on site and identify potential safety hazards and/or violations that must be corrected

  • Document and follow-up to ensure that all necessary safety violations are adequately addressed and corrected

  • Prepare Monthly Safety Review/Safety Audit Reports and distribute to project stakeholders.

  • Investigate any lost time or safety incidents, and document the facts of the events.


Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 6 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Hold at least one of the following degrees or certificates: CHST, CSP, CIH, OHST

  • Current OSHA 30-Hr Construction Health & Safety Certificate/Card

  • Demonstrate competency in pre-task Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) planning, accident investigation root cause analysis, and statistical analysis of injury trends

  • Have broad understanding and recall of Fed, State, and local regulatory requirements as they pertain to OSHA, Cal/OSHA and Labor Codes

  • HAZWOPER (Optional)

  • Competent in (or designate AHSR with expertise in) heavy equipment operation, fall protection, scaffolding, confined space entry, on-rail equipment operation, heavy lift operation, welding and hot-work, and other appropriate areas of high-risk exposures

  • Current 1st Aid Certificate/Card

  • Construction/Civil Construction experience is required

  • Familiar with requirements of and experience in the areas of hazard identification and safety compliance

  • Computer/Software proficiency with Microsoft Office proficiency required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
