Description

SAIC is in need of a Technical Writer to support our GCCS-TCO JTCW Sustainment Support Program in Virginia Beach, VA.


The Technical Writer will be part of our curriculum development team and will be responsible for providing support in the design and development of content for computer-based training and instructor-led courses. The materials produced include training lessons, proposals, numbered outlines, storyboards, process flow charts, and instruction manuals. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, editing and formatting training materials to comply with established standards.


Qualifications

  • U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree - 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of two years of experience in technical writing, grammar, and communication skills
  • Write and edit technical and complex ideas and procedures for novice readers. Possess command of the English language, especially an expert understanding of voice, address, and syntax.
  • Work with instructional systems designers and subject matter experts, observing functional tasks to determine process steps.
  • Ability to organize materials, write an outline, and then use it to develop comprehensive, well-written documents.
  • Complete assignments in required project writing style, terminology, clarity, and order.
  • Recognize and adjust writing style based on content and product type, adhering to established technical writing standards.
  • Differentiate between, and write, generic and example-specific process steps.
  • Expert knowledge of Word and working knowledge of Excel.
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint and version control.
  • Familiar with computer systems and software technical terms.
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive criticism in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently, or as a part of a team.
  • Knowledge of US Navy/Marine Corps or FAA culture, equipment, techniques and procedures a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
