AECOM’s Markham office has openings for Architectural Technologists to join our growing Buildings and Places team. The Buildings and Places Team is a vibrant and growing business line which delivers Engineering, architectural and project management services as well as planning and economic analysis for vertical construction projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to, commercial, institutional, healthcare, pharmaceutical, water / waste water and transit facilities;
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Prepare drawings of plans, elevations, cross sections and details of buildings from rough sketches and/or from general architectural and engineering design information according to established standards and procedures.
Work collaboratively in a team environment with other CAD Technicians, Architects and Engineers, Spec. Writers with minimal supervision.
Creating a full set of working drawings for permit application and construction.
Actively promote and contribute to the successful completion of projects from initial concept, through the planning process to implementation.
Assume responsibility and meet or improve on deliverable deadlines for own portion of the project scope, schedule and budget.
Communicate with construction team to provide timely information to resolve issues.
Train junior staff in the preparation of accurate and technically proficient construction documents.
Anticipate/manage multiple and changing priorities, be flexible and shift priorities as needed to deal with demands of changed conditions.
Candidates must have no less than a high school diploma + 6 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Completion of a Diploma in Architectural Technology, and/or registered or eligible for registration with OAAAS/OACETT would be considered an asset.
Experience in designing details for complex industrial facilities.
Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
Strong client communication, teamwork, collaboration and problem-solving skills required.
Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
Strong, demonstrated experience in implementation of the Ontario Building Code.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated experience in a variety of project types and project delivery methods.
Proven technical understanding of building science including architectural detailing.
Familiarity with coordination of structural, mechanical and electrical systems.
Knowledge of construction contracts.
Attention to detail.
