Systems Engineer II
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Applicant is expected to perform assessments through data collection, system engineering analyses, modeling, and simulation for current watercraft systems. Must understand, at the working level, the integration of Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Level Of Repair Analysis (LORA), and sparing information within the block model and be able to work at an accelerated pace. Working knowledge and experience with processes that enable better decisions about the design and support of safety/mission critical equipment at each stage of the product lifecycle and also help reduce risk using interdependent analysis capabilities that consider the technical, operational and economic requirements of the operator and/or maintainer of the system. Must be capable of performing model based engineering analyses to understand the effects of failures and other impacts to system performance on system functions at all hardware levels (system, subsystem, and component) in complex systems. Use model based approaches to evaluate areas in which reductions in maintenance can be achieved, reliability can be improved, and support functions can be optimized. Develop models that support decisions regarding affordability and supportability in assessing performance and suitability tradeoffs.
Works within the areas of maintenance and logistics engineering and has a range of responsibilities that focuses on equipment reliability, safety, health and environmental issues, manufacturing processes and effectiveness techniques and reliability. Develops and/or participates in analyses and recommendations using various analytical processes and tools such as FMECA, Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) analysis, reliability and maintainability analysis, logistics support analysis/supportability analysis, operational availability analysis, and life cycle costing data using modeling software. Determines, recommends or implements supportability requirements through systems engineering and design, preparing business cases, communicating to stakeholders, planning and budgeting resources, and documenting resulting maintenance/operations performance agreements/specifications.
Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or Process Engineering or related disciplines.
