SAIC is seeking a Principal Linux System Engineer in San Diego, CA to support NIWC PAC.
Job Duties:
  • Responsible for building an isolated cloud.
  • Works with a team to develop, integrate, and test team responsible for deploying a new system that is isolated from the internet
  • Establish and maintain GIT repository in development environment isolated from internet.
  • Create, install, and maintain containers with pre-built software applications in a Red Hat Linux environment.
  • Provide system administration support for Red Hat Linux based servers.
  • Provide configuration and administration support for VMware vSphere and NSX.
  • Provide installation, configuration, and administration support for database, identity and access management, and messaging services incorporated into a Platform as a Service (PaaS) infrastructure.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of at PaaS.
  • Develop scripts to support testing of platform services exposed to applications running within containers.  Assist test team with development of automated and manual test procedures.
  • Document system configurations and administration processes.


Required Education:

  • BS Degree with 9 years of related experience; four (4) years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.
Required Skills:
  • Experience working on a disconnected network environment
  • Experience building an isolated cloud
  • Experience with OpenShift version 4, version 3 will also be accepted
  • IT system engineer with experience with Design, System Administration, Documentation, Testing and Maintenance of IT infrastructure systems.
  • Experience with VMWare networking and resource management tools, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and deploying containerized applications using Docker, Podman, OpenShift and/or Python and JavaScript, and setting up GIT repositories.
Required Certifications:
  • Current Security+, CISSP, or CASP certification
  • Current Linux+ or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification
Required Security Clearance:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an Active DOD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain DOD Top Secret
