Job Summary

Our Civil Infrastructure team is looking to appoint a Design Lead; this is an opportunity to work on iconic projects across New Zealand in a leadership role.

This role will be responsible for reviewing technical quality of engineering and design tasks while supporting the Programme Manager to ensure on time and budget project delivery.

In this role you will be working closely with the wider team and managing relationships as you will be responsible for monitoring the outcomes of the programme with specific oversight over the technical engineering inputs.

Minimum Requirements

The Role:

  • Coordinate design reviews with other packages’ design review manager and all project team reviewers

  • Manage engineering/design processes and deliverables to track and report timeliness of delivery, scope and budget

  • Responsible for resolving design issues and communicating those issues to the project delivery team

  • Identify and report scope creep to the Project Director

  • Reply to Contractors’ RFI’s related to Design Consultants intents

  • Provide deliverables schedule input to Consultants and Contractors, and ensure on-time delivery of documents

  • Review design documents and provide comments

  • Review all comments for relevance and consistency

  • Provide technical leadership to assure that all technical work reviewed is of high quality, accurate, and within the context of schedule and budget

  • Oversight of the overall management of resources required for specialist design and engineering inputs;

  • Coordinate engineering, utilities, drawing, mapping and cost estimation resources for timely and effective programme delivery;

  • Verification of overall engineering and design processes and outputs;

  • Work collaboratively with Technical leads and Wider Programme Team;

  • Perform active risk management to minimise engineering and assessment risks;

About You:

  • Proven minimum 15 years’ transportation experience and leading teams on major infrastructure projects

  • Ability to manage resources across multiple work streams;

  • Experience delivering projects with a high level of public visibility and interest;

  • Experience bringing together a cohesive team on complex projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering degree

  • CPEng Preferable
