This full-time employment position will support our civil/structural practice in the Design and Consulting Services, Water Business Line Division. AECOM often wins contracts to design some of the most complex and interesting hydraulic structures in the United States, such as flood protection structures, flood gates, pump stations, navigation locks, intake structures, water diversion projects, ports facilities, and industrial buildings among others. This important role offers an excellent opportunity for career advancement through participation in a variety of challenging projects. The Civil Engineer will be responsible for the performance of engineering coordination and development of engineering plans and specifications. The Civil Engineer will ensure that all design work is produced on time, to budget, and in accordance with the project quality requirements.
Reviewing of concept design reports
Preparing construction plans and specifications.
Reviewing project-specific specifications in line with local standards and codes.
Completing deliverables in agreed time and cost.
Managing quality assurance (QA) and the checking of all design work carried out prior to formal issues.
Coordinating between the Civil and Structural elements of the design team, throughout the design process.
Coordinating between the Civil/Structural design team and other disciplines including Geotechnical, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers; as well as Architectural design
Be responsible for the accuracy of the work of the team.
5+ years of relevant industry experience in projects related to; Hydraulic structures, flood protection, levees; Drainage system design, including collection networks and pump stations; and Site development and earthwork
Experience with cost estimating and quantity takeoffs for an engineer’s estimate.
Ability to work on fast-paced complex projects
Ability to work on multiple ongoing projects at the same time
Willing to work overtime if needed to complete a task to meet the client’s schedule or request
Detail-oriented and technical
Highly motivated self-starter
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
Computer Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel
Louisiana Professional Engineer (PE)
Bachelor’s degree from ABET-accredited institution
5-10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Experience with USACE and CPRA engineering/construction projects
Excellent with CAD programs such as Autodesk Civil 3D and Bentley Open R
