Associate Specialist- HSE

This position supports the Marine Corps Prepositioning Program (MCPP) and we are looking for a Safety/Environmental Specialist to work at our Kuwait location

Maintains, updates and administers the Safety, Health, and Environmental Program in accordance with requirements of the Federal Occupation Safety and Health Act of 1970 (OSHA), Army Support Group – Kuwait Safety and Environmental policies, and customer requirements. Ensures that all requirements of the Safety & Environmental Programs are met. Assists in planning and directing an accident prevention program. Establishes, reviews and updates a comprehensive accident investigation and reporting program. Maintains safety directives and accident reports. Investigates accidents and conducts periodic safety inspections. Provides safety indoctrination and education. Advises and assists in the organization and implementation of a complete vehicle safety program. Coordinates with the Army Support Group – Kuwait occupational specialists for support with industrial hygienist requirements; evaluation of environmental factors in chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic areas. Provides necessary assistance or advice to program management in Kuwait on matters pertaining to safety, health, and fire protection. Obtains assistance from Army Support Group – Kuwait, on matters pertaining to safety, health, and fire protection. Conducts safety-related training programs for MAP-K employees. Oversees and/or conducts safety related audits. Conducts safety and fire prevention inspections. Ensures compliance with all Army Support Group – Kuwait, or local laws, and corporate and/or other regulatory agency requirements. Coordinates safety efforts with the Blount Island Command medical office including industrial hygiene, employee examinations, hazard and health evaluation, medical records, and reports. Ensures that emergency plans are adequately publicized to minimize reaction time to emergencies. Provides guidance and training to MAP-K employees. Performs other related duties as assigned.


  • BA degree in safety or environmental engineering, health education or related field. In lieu of a degree, a combination of college credits, other formalized training or education, and directly related work experience may be considered.
  • Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Health Physicist (CHP) or similar certification desired.
  • Three years directly related work experience in a comparable discipline.
  • Complete an approved safety course or equivalent.
  • In-depth working knowledge of OSHA regulations and all other safety related federal, state and local requirements.
  • Ability to inspect or survey work areas, processes, or other systems, analyze findings, and develop corrective actions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, specifically the ability to write technical related reports in a clear, concise format.
  • Working knowledge of industrial hygiene.
  • Working knowledge of MPF program and its diverse safety needs and requirements.
  • Application and knowledge of the principles, standards, and techniques of safety and occupational health management.
  • Working knowledge of the pertinent elements of engineering, physical science, ergonomics, psychology, industrial hygiene, physiology, and other scientific and technological fields which contribute to the achievement of comprehensive safety and occupational health objectives.
  • Ability to develop safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards and/or to reduce the frequency, severity and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses.
  • Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.
  • US Citizen. Proof required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a U.S. Passport.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Valid state Motor Vehicle Operator License.
  • Applicants must be able to obtain a finding of ‘NO RECORD’ on the FBI Police Record Investigation.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Military Base Access.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card.
  • Working knowledge of military storage procedures.
  • Working knowledge of general maintenance procedures for military tactical equipment and supplies.
