We have an excellent leadership opportunity for a Managing Principal to be based in our Boston office. The Managing Principal develops and drives the strategy and the growth of AECOM’s services for the Buildings + Places (B+P) business line in Boston and across the New England area in alignment with the B+P National and Regional business line strategy. Our primary focus is on Education, Life Sciences and Healthcare.
The Managing Principal will be responsible for business line strategy and growth, delivery of bookings, and revenue generation in Boston consistent with the financial plan. They will lead practice excellence - design and technical excellence in Boston and the B+P business line as well as identify strategic skills needed in the business line and develop/recruit/hire key employees with those skills. As an industry leader, they will build strong relationships and develop/enhance the company’s position and reputation in the market. They will support the delivery of the B+P business line financial plan in Boston and in coordination and collaboration with the Northeast Region.
Essential duties and responsibilities are as follows:
Business Strategy and Development: Responsible for driving the strategy and the growth of AECOM’s services for the B+P business line in Boston and across New England. Develops and executes the B+P Boston business strategy with strong support from and collaboration with other Regions and Business Line leaders to achieve region growth targets.
Financial Results: In collaboration with the East Region Leadership Team, develops the annual goals for bookings and NSR to grow profitable business and ensure financial success of Boston. Responsible for Boston B+P business line sales and growth; delivery of bookings and revenue generation consistent with the financial plan.
Project Delivery: Leads design and technical excellence in Boston and B+P business line. Provides guidance and counsel to leadership on assignment of design and technical staff to strategic pursuits, projects, and technical reviews; advises on design and technical staff development and training.
People: Sets the “tone at the top" of B+P in Boston ensuring a strong focus on clients, a commitment to excellence and innovation, and strong engagement of employees. Responsible for identifying strategic skills needed in the B+P business line and developing/recruiting/hiring employees with those skills. Responsible for managing and developing direct reports, and proactively champions performance management and succession planning processes.
Operations: Coordinates efforts between the Boston and Northeast Region, including accessing geography-level mega-project managers. Drawing upon design and technical expertise, directs the development of capture plans in pursuit of profitable and repeat business.
Deep knowledge of the regional Buildings and Places marketplace with national and global reach, key clients, and industry trends is paramount
Experience and skill in strategic Buildings and Places business development, client relationships and driving sales and revenue
The ability to support and lead business development activities through early client interaction, “scope of work” development, interviews, and on-going client maintenance interface
Acted as principal-in-charge of a large/multi-disciplined project /consultant team
Experience with Federal, Corporate, and/or Commercial / Mixed Use Clients and project types and relevant industry relationships
Experience working in the Architecture/Engineering industry in Boston.
