CHI St. Alexius Health officially announced the formation of its regional health care system on April 19, 2016. The system is the largest health care delivery system in central and western North Dakota and is comprised of a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, and critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services. CHI St. Alexius Health manages five CAHs in North Dakota - Ashley, Elgin, Linton, and Wishek, as well as Mobridge Regional Medical Center in Mobridge, S. D. ResponsibilitiesWorks under the supervision of the Director. Serves as the medical center's administrative representative on evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, providing leadership and oversees the coordination of patient care services and medical center's operations. Supervises nursing care according to Policy and Procedures while maintaining standards of Nurse Practice Act. All the criteria-based duties and standards within this document will be performed according to policies, procedures and guidelines within this document and the Medical Center. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Adheres to St. Alexius Medical Center mission, values, and Journey Beyond Excellence expectations to foster a compassionate, healing environment providing physiological, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and visitors. Plans, organizes, and directs activities of evening and night shift for the medical center. Establishes policies and procedures for nursing department, following directions of hospital administration. Observes techniques of and services rendered by nursing staff to ensure adherence to hospital guidelines. Provides leadership and overseas the coordination of patient care services including patient placement of admits and transfers.Identifies problem areas in nursing department, such as understaffing, absenteeism, and wastefulness, and takes corrective action. Responds to various departments requesting emergency assistance and assigns staff accordingly during emergencies. Collaborates with staffing coordinator for allocation of staffing resources.Successfully completes the defined job specific competencies, including competencies for age specific, as appropriate Qualifications Education: Nursing degree from an approved school of nursing: BSN required. Licensure: Licensed to practice registered nursing in the state of ND or in a compact state. Experience: Three years of clinical nursing experience required; BS degree required, one year of supervisory or management experience preferred. Skills: Working knowledge of clinical skills in delivery of patient care. Basic Life Support Certification within 480 hours of employment and meets recertification as required. Interpersonal Skills: Good communication skills are necessary because of the constant communication, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors, and medical center staff. Accountable for own conduct and promotes and supports positive working relationships among staff, between other disciplines, departments, families, visitors, and patients. Maintains confidentiality. Physical Effort: Safe levels of physical effort will not exceed: Lifting: (between knuckle and shoulder height) up to 30 lbs. Carrying: (between hip and shoulder height for a distance up to 28 feet), up to 40 lbs. Pulling: initial forces up to 50 lbs of force. Pushing: initial forces up to 45 lbs of force or sustained forces 15-20 lbs. Hours of Work: Days, Evenings, Nights, Holidays, Weekends, and Rotating Shifts. Exemption Status: Non-Exempt/Exempt Other: Works under the following conditions: potential exposure to mechanical, chemical, and infectious environmental hazards.
