Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Field Service Engineer / Network Installation & Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Naval Support Activity, Bahrain.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing installation / removal / upgrade / interface actions associated with network components at user locations.

  • Inventorying shipments, installing racks, equipment, infrastructure and providing redline installation documents and completion reports.

  • Facilitating and finalizing all aspects of site acceptance.

  • Providing fault isolation in a data communications network.

  • Activating / deactivating network components according to established schedules.

  • Interfacing with users and/or network vendors.

  • Coordinating with users, site/base support, security offices and or facilities personnel, network manager(s) and controllers, long haul and local carriers for site access, installation, cutover, activation, deactivation, planning and execution.

  • Providing functional guidance, supervision, technical support, training and quality assurance / quality control to Associate and Intermediate personnel.

  • Supporting senior staff as required and ensures customer requirements and project milestones are met.

  • Providing fault isolation in a data communications network.

  • Identifying, troubleshooting and resolving malfunctions in order to bring new platforms into the operational network.

  • Supporting transition of services and products to ensure compliance with DISA contract requirements.

  • Installation of DISA’s IP based (classified/unclassified) LAN/WAN, DWDM and SONET networks whether it be hardware or software upgrades/fixes, on routers, switches, long haul transport, servers, cryptographic systems and other IT equipment.

  • Troubleshooting circuits from fractional T1’s up to OC-1920 (100G)’s using various types of test equipment.

  • Assisting DISA and other end users in troubleshooting and recovering systems and files; installing operating systems, network systems, applications, and testing head to head running BERT tests across the path, checking framing, line coding, protocols, Sonet, and IP.

  • Utilizing OTDR and OSA test equipment to troubleshoot / analyze long haul fiber and DWDM circuit outages.

  • Performing detailed and technically in-depth site survey functions at user locations as required in order to assess / analyze site preparedness, develop installation plans, minor installation parts lists and associated cost estimates.

  • Coordinating with users, site/base support and or facilities personnel, network manager(s) and controllers, long haul and local carriers for installation, cutover, activation, deactivation planning and execution.

  • Performing installation / removal / upgrade / interface actions associated with network components at user locations.

  • Facilitating and finalizing all aspects of site acceptance.

  • Supporting senior staff as required and ensures customer requirements and project milestones are met.

  • Performing a variety of difficult assignments associated with monitoring and controlling computer operating systems.

  • Supervising and managing the daily activities of configuration and operation of business systems.

  • Optimizing system operation and resource utilization and performing system capacity analysis and planning.

  • Setting up and maintaining the following devices / vendors: CISCO, Juniper, Safenet, Ciena, and Sycamore.

  • Analyzing system faults and troubleshooting and running diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems.

  • Evaluating and installing developed software during various phases of testing.

  • Reviewing and preparing documentation for systems, tests and installation of software.

  • Investigating and recommending methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Initiating preventive maintenance on the operating systems as well as repairs to system / environment problems.

  • Administering systems / environment solutions for multiple projects with varying schedules.

  • Travel is required in the performance of duties by air or vehicle throughout Europe. (Travel is limited during COVID.)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have at least 7 years of experience and a High School diploma or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional specialized technical training equivalent to a technical Associate degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical tasks.

  • Experience with one of more: fault management, configuration management, and WAN maintenance.

  • Expertise in one or more of the following: IP routing, Optical, Crypto, Network appliances (WAN acceleration, etc.)

  • Ability to work in a team focused, dynamic environment

  • Experience in fabrication of serial, cat6, coax, fiber and DC power cable fabrication for equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades.

  • Experienced with major vendors, i.e. Sycamore, Ciena, Juniper, Promina, Cisco.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Manufacturer certifications for vendor specific equipment (i.e. CISCO, Juniper, etc.)

  • DoD 8570.01-M certification

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with a current DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance (eligible to obtain TS clearance).

Contract: The contract is fully funded. GSM-O II re-compete has been awarded and is valid for an additional 10 years through 29 July 2030.

ManTech International Corporation is recruiting for immediate openings for Field Service Engineers / Sr. Network Installation & Maintenance Technicians under the Global Services Management – Operations II (GSM-O II) contract. This contract provides support to the Defense Information System Network (DISN) and associated networking capabilities. ManTech also provides Field Engineering support for DISA for all sites in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Western Pacific and Alaska.

Physical Requirements:

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.

  • Constantly positions self to maintain computers in the lab, including under the desks and in the server closet

  • Frequently moves Audio/Visual or Computer equipment weighing up to 70 pounds across and/or around a business campus or large facility
