Incinerator Operator - Manda Bay
Under direct supervision from Foreman, operates one or more incinerators of varying sizes (1/2 ton to 10 ton) to burn debris, trash, and/or regulated medical waste (RMW) including sharps. Helps coordinate movement of materials to work site. Completes and reviews records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs clean-up activities. Job may require moderate to heavy lifting. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Must be able to work in a Tyvek suit and full face respirator for short periods of time. Position will involve the operations of the Solid Waste Management procedures, SOP and Work Instructions. Driver’s license and basic computer skills required.
Reports and records the use of and the need to restock wear parts or services related items to the immediate supervisor. Requires High school diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of any combination of Incinerator operational experience, mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair experience, industrial plant operational experience or industrial maintenance experience. Maintenance of systems may include: hydraulic, electrical, PLC and control panels. This is a work environment that requires attention to detail and surroundings. Maintenance activities must be conducted as scheduled and non-routine repairs must be affected in a timely manner. Performs other duties and activities as directed.
