Manages the acquisition, installation, operation, deployment, and maintenance of the organization’s implementation of the McAfee Host Based Security System (HBSS) to include agents and individual installed modules (i.e. ePolicy Orchestrator (EPO), etc.), plus all supporting infrastructure and data processing systems. This also involves helping architect and analyze the integration of HBSS with the customer network models. It requires active participation in decisions about buying hardware or software to deploy, maintain, and upgrade the organization’s HBSS implementation.  Works on complex problems where analysis of situation requires in-depth evaluation and analysis of various factors.  Provides work leadership and platform training to lower-level network engineers, administrators, and cybersecurity staff.  Requires expert knowledge of how the software interacts within the customer LAN/WAN systems, networks, and other security applications. This position will support activities within Special Access Programs (SAPs) supporting Department of Defense (DoD) agencies such as HQ Air Force, Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), and Military Compartments efforts. The position will provide day-to-day support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and SAP activities. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Deploying, managing, troubleshooting, and providing technical solutions for all clients' HBSS agent and endpoint products 
  • Conducting and managing HBSS operations to secure client systems, including scanning, patching, and remediating devices and systems 
  • Configuring, monitoring, operating, managing, and maintaining HBSS point products (Anti-Virus (AV), Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS), Policy Auditor, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) products), Agent Handler, ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO), Super Agent Distributed Repository (SADR) servers, SQL management software, and all associated firewalls and server configurations
  • Developing draft SOPs, checklists, guides, best practices, and procedures 
  • Automating procedures using scripts and SQL/database administration. 
  • Providing reports to sites to remediate expired AV signatures. 
  • Bringing systems into compliance with security policies 
  • Administering HBSS SQL database 
  • Using ePO, SADR servers, and the HBSS to scan, patch, and remediate devices and systems 
  • Taking immediate action to avert suspected security intrusions or violations utilizing vulnerability management tools. 
  • Ensuring compliance with approved security updates, patches, baselines, associated orders, and network defense directives for all infrastructure and devices to include testing, coordinating, implementing, and tracking all associated infrastructure and devices. 
  • Providing network engineering support 
  • Providing expertise in the operations and maintenance of boundary devices, vulnerability management systems, and endpoint protection 
  • Defining and analyzing endpoint security system requirements and developing specifications 
  • Directing the implementation of patch management associated with HBSS 
  • May perform storage and virtualization engineering support 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems, Microsoft Exchange Server, and as needed RHEL operating systems administration and associated hardware
  • Experience in effective communication and collaborating in a high performance team environment.
  • Group Policy design and configuration
  • Working knowledge of CISCO network and switching and virtualization technologies
  • Working knowledge of virtualization as it applies to users environments, operating systems, and network appliances
  • Working knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies and data backup technologies
  • Working knowledge communication security (COMSEC) policies and integration
  • Working knowledge of Risk Management Framework, Common Criteria, and System Security Policy as they relate to assessments and authorization
  • Working knowledge and current relevant experience with PL2, PL3, and PL4 network environments/systems
  • Working knowledge of WSUS and/or YUM patch deployment methodologies
  • Must be familiar with DoD policy as it applies to implementing and executing system and network administration
  • Working knowledge of Risk Management Framework and how to apply it to network/information system environments
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 - 7 years related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalent experience (4 years)
  • Must meet position and certification requirements outlined in DoD Directive 8570.01-M for Information Assurance Technician Level III within 6 months of the date of hire

Security Clearance:

  • Current Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility
  • Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information
  • Willingness to submit to a Counterintelligence polygraph

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations
