Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Site Reliability Engineer who has worked with both government and commercial customers to join our team in the Herndon, VA area.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee operations and delivery of 24x7x365 integrated IT services and the quality of delivery in the Infrastructure-as-a-Service ecosystem for government agencies, reporting to the Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager.
  • Work closely with the program Chief Engineer to deploy new capabilities, applications, and tools, and inform requirements on tooling that provides operational efficiency gains and increased levels of automation
  • Establish and maintain a collaborative relationship of trust among the applicable government agencies, and Service Providers to maximize customer satisfaction and value perception. Broker compromise and efficient service delivery agreements across the IC, DoD, and other Federal agencies.
  • Ensure efficient and effective use of systems and compliance with all information security policies, cybersecurity, access control, and other policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure an integrated, proactive Event Management process is defined and maintained so that all Integrated Services are monitored such that Events occurring in the Integrated Services are identified, promptly actioned, recorded, and reported.
  • Ensure an Incident Management process is defined and maintained in a way that restores service operation as quickly as possible with minimum disruption to the mission. This includes a specialized process for Incidents that are deemed Major Incidents, which require swift recovery to serious interruptions of business activities and must be resolved with a high degree of urgency.
  • Ensure a Problem Management process is designed and maintained across the Integrated Service Providers to reduce the recurrence of Incidents.
  • Ensure a Service Request Management is designed and maintained that guarantees service requests are effectively managed from the initial request through fulfillment or cancellation from multiple sources, such as Service Providers, other vendors, and Customers.

  • Responsible for Configuration and Change Management in the Production and QA Environments
  • Site Reliability Engineer oversees daily operations across sites, oversees implementation efforts and is responsible for configuration and change management. Professional Services supports driving people-vision within the organization, tracking changes & impact, establishing and executing a successful change adoption plan. Maintains focus on site reliability and integrated operations across multiple nodes within the fabric.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12 - 20 Years relevant work experience and a Master’s Degree in a relevant field
  • Five (5) years' experience directly related to supporting,  operating, and maintaining Infrastructure and Infrastructure-as-code, software defined networks, and APIs in a data-intensive environment. Expertise in the operational tenets of DevOPS and DevSecOPS.
  • Leadership experience in prioritizing, planning, and successfully receiving and deploying multiple projects in parallel and in cooperation with an Engineering staff delivering those capabilities to you for operational use. Closely collaborating with engineering staff and running a site reliability engineering-focused operational paradigm. Accustomed to having Software Developers as part of your Operations team and dealing with advanced reliability and incidents at the code level in production.
  • Experience in triaging Severity Level 1 – 5 incidents in production and determining which ones can be quickly dealt with in a DevOPS paradigm and which require further investigation
  • Demonstrated expertise providing oral and written communication to management while providing technical leadership to engineering and operational teams.
  • Experience with recruiting site reliability engineering, operations, and software development talent and the organizational skills to align personnel to operations, maintenance, and automation activities that best strengthen a team working in an innovative environment, and leading those teams through the formative start-up culture of forming–storming–norming–performing
  • Candidate should have a desired mix of technology expertise, first implementation of new technologies, supporting management, working with non-technical customers in a room, and writing technical briefs. Must be accustomed to working with highly talented developers in a team setting against a blank white-board where requirements are ill-defined, and working with customers in a highly rigorous (spit-and-polish) boardroom environment where deference to each is required, and potentially unique, challenging perspectives can exist on both sides

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, especially Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Must possess an active TS/SCI and Full-Scope polygraph

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations
  • Must be willing to travel CONUS and OCONUS to client locations at least 10% of the time
  • Move about freely in a laboratory setting
  • Repetitive Motions
