Senior JavaScript Developer

This position is not limited to the N. Charleston, SC area. Full time remote work is available for applicants outside the South Carolina area.

Performs all activities associated with the design, development, implementation, maintenance, configuration management and quality control of software for scientific/engineering applications. Analyze customer requirements and translate them into a design. Create prototypes. Perform internal testing of software products. Respond to and resolve software discrepancies against documented requirements. Generate program design language and code based on department standards. Determine software maintainability and overall adherence to user requirements on department standards. Generate/update documents defining software product baselines.

Key areas of specialization are:

  • Applications Programmer/ Analyst: Analyzes and evaluates systems and devises computer specifications and systems for scientific/engineering applications to process data. Encodes, tests, debugs, and installs operating programs and procedures.

-Engineering Support: Participates with engineering in the design, development, and utilization of scientific/engineering electronic data processing systems software. Provides analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software for products such as utility software, development software, and diagnostic software. Participates in the development of engineering test strategies, devices and systems. As a team leader: plan and organize projects, direct the project through the different phases, and provide task estimates.

Performs all other duties as assigned.


  • BS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience. 6+ years applicable progressively complex software design engineering experience. In lieu of formal education, 12 years of progressive, related experience. Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.
  • Active Secret clearance or have an Interim Secret clearance prior to start.
  • Specialized skills for this position will include proficiencywith JavaScript, HTML, CSS, REST, and SOAP for data entry and presentation. Experience with Java and Python programming would be a plus. User should be experienced using browser developer tools to troubleshoot issues with created content. Further experience with XML, AJAX, and SharePoint may be needed to support Cyber tool development and maintenance activities. These tools are used to promote the organization and analysis of security related information pertaining to end customers.

Attributes/Skills Sought

  • Ability to analyze customer requirements and translate them into user stories and child task.
  • Good eye for designing towards usability in web-based applications.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies preferred.
  • Extensive experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, REST, SOAP.
  • Programming experience in Java and/or Python beneficial
  • Experience with XML and XML based standards preferred (especially security standards such as SCAP, XCCDF, OVAL, and OCIL). Knowledge of XML schema validation and namespaces, etc.
  • Ability to work independently or in small teams.
  • Provide time estimates for assigned tasks.

Basic Compensation:

Pay range: $81,600 - $122,600

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
