What you’ll do as a Security Architect, Consultant :

Our Security Architects are part of the Technical Design / Architecture Team within the UK Advisory Group. Working across multiple projects, our Security Architects provide expert security analysis of a project through all phases of delivery, from definition through to close. Typically, this includes providing independent advice on the independent evaluation and selection of complex systems & solutions, methods, procedures, and processes. A key part of the role involves working in complex government landscapes that come with complex IT Security requirements.


  • Advise on the determination of procedures for solving complex design, integration, and analytical problems – from a security point of view.
  • From a Security perspective - design, implement and maintain architecture models, support planning for development, integration, and testing.
  • Perform all-source analysis to determine characteristics of various solutions, reporting regularly on changes, trends and implications of evolving systems and solutions.
  • Communicate complex ideas, anticipate potential objections, and persuade others, often at senior levels, to influence decisions.
  • Develop new architectural assets that underpin sound technical decisions supporting client brief.
  • Support the development of other colleagues through informal training and skills transfer sessions
  • Work with the wider Design Team to develop the maturity of our Security Architecture knowledge & collateral.
  • Act in KBR’s best interests and demonstrate our core competencies of; drive, flexibility, building relationships, communication skills and self-motivation.

Hours: This is a permanent role within our UK Advisory Group. We consider flexible ways of working, that allow the best outcomes for our people and clients. Working closely with our clients is key to successful outcomes, and so travel across the UK is a requirement.


  • Demonstrable experience providing Security architecture to support the TDA and Client Assurance community.
  • Ability to lead security workshops and support the Security working group, and to propose practical solutions to potential security vulnerabilities in the design or implementation.
  • Experience working with ITHC providers to ensure a successful outcome and authority to operate.
  • Ability to model security threats, mitigations and mappings to candidate control sets.
  • Strong ability to convey technical ideas, concepts and procedures and manipulate text and images to create well-structured documentation that can be easily absorbed by a non-technical audience.
  • Knowledge of the key principles behind both Agile and Waterfall design methodologies.
  • Experience of accreditation on AWS cloud infrastructure and Android mobile applications.
  • The ability to think creatively to address process design and development challenges.
  • Proactive, and demonstrate exemplary attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to develop strong relationships and be able to influence colleagues, senior client stakeholders, partners, suppliers.
  • Eligibility and willingness to undergo relevant UK security clearances (SC/DV/NPVV3)
  • Willingness to undergo random drug testing.
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse & geographically dispersed team.


  • Experience conducting technical security architecture work, preferably supported with a recognised qualification (e.g. CLAS, CISP) and familiar with both legacy (RMADS) and current (IRAR) security documentation sets and assets.
  • Experience within either Policing, Defence or Security.
  • Experience of using collaborative software such as Skype, Confluence, JIRA etc.
