Atkore is currently searching for a 3rd shift (11pm â?? 7 am) Maintenance Tool & Die Machinist to be based out of Harvey, IL. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this person will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing all mechanical components used in the production of steel tubing.
The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma\GED and a minimum of 3 years' experience machining of new and breakdown repair work, rebuild and maintenance of various production dies, assist maintenance in repair of production equipment. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.
Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
â?¢ Read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
â?¢ Know shop mathematics, mechanics, metal properties and correct sequence of machining operations. Make own sketches.
â?¢ Set up and operate all machine shop equipment to make any replacement parts to close tolerances.
â?¢ Plan work from maintenance work orders and intimate knowledge of equipment requirements.
â?¢ Dismantle, check out and evaluate production equipment for needed repairs or replacements and be able to make such repairs.
â?¢ Operate hoists, fork truck and floor crane to move and position parts and equipment as needed.
â?¢ Keep working area in a clean and orderly condition.
â?¢ Perform work via work order system, recording work performed, material used.
â?¢ Work with little or no supervision.
â?¢ Notify foremen when tools need to be ordered.
â?¢ Prepare tools, dies and equipment as required for plant equipment.
â?¢ Perform non-routine work of a temporary or emergency nature.
â?¢ Available to work overtime when needed
â?¢ Comply to all plant safety rules and report any unsafe conditions to Supervisor.

Qualifications include:
â?¢ High School Diploma or GED required.
â?¢ Qualified trade certification or supplied proof of proficiency in the Machinist field.
â?¢ Strong sense of time organization and sense of urgency, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
â?¢ Must pass a hair follicle drug screen and physical.
