NASA Systems Administrator Senior - Military veterans preferred

This is an exciting opportunity to be a member of the SAIC LITES System Administration team supporting cutting edge computing systems at NASA Langley Research Center.   This senior position will be supporting the Aerothermodynamics branch.


We’re looking for a US Citizen with 5+ years of Linux/Unix systems administration; experience with RHEL/CentOS a plus.  


Job Responsibilities:

  • Operations of the Linux clusters, servers, and workstations as well as supporting Windows and Mac desktop systems, and networking
  • Proactively monitor, analyze, and correct system issues
  • Developing scripts to automate repetitive tasks or tools to enhance support of systems
  • System performance analysis and tuning
  • Installing and supporting user requested software
  • Working with IT Security to maintain System Security Plans


Required Education: 

  • Bachelor's and 5 years of experience
  • Additional years of experience accepted in leiu of degree. 


Clearance Requirement: 

  • Must be a U.S. Citezen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance. 


Required Skills:

  • Installation of NVIDIA CUDA drivers for GPU compute nodes
  • Managing infrastructure services such as NFS, DHCP, TFTP,  and NIS
  • Managing batch systems such as the Simple Linux Utility for Resource Management (Slurm)
  • Writing scripts in a UNIX environment – bash/k-shell/borne shell (preferred) perl or python, etc.
  • Ability to compile and install various user requested open source applications
  • Understanding of RAID disk storage systems and NFS
  • "Quick study" and driven to learn how to quantify, analyze and resolve complex issues
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and also independently
  • Understanding of IT security best practices
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts
