Summary:This technician position is responsible for diagnosing and repairing medium to heavy-duty trucks and trailers under minimal supervision. Repairs include Preventative Maintenance inspections and repairs, air and hydraulic brake repairs, tire repairs, driveline, wheel end, steering & suspension, electrical troubleshooting, warning light diagnostics, aftertreatment repair, HVAC, New York State inspections, Federal annual inspections, and other duties as assigned. This technician performs roadside repairs. This employee assists other technicians in repairs, and is expected to help teach and guide entry level technicians and PM technicians. This technician is expected to continue to learn additional mechanical skills such as advanced diagnostics, engine, and transmission repairs.Responsibilities:Performs complete Preventative Maintenance inspections and repairsProficient in all warning light diagnostics and repairPerforms vehicle repairs off-site and roadsideAssists and guides other techniciansRequired to complete online and hands-on trainingTraining includes Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections, engine components, transmissions, electrical fundamentals, starting and charging systems, HVAC, brakes, wheel end, tires, and alignmentsTraining includes Bendix, Meritor, Cummins, Hino, Volvo, Detroit, and othersTraining includes cutting torches, forklift, light repairs, road service, and administrative/systems processesQualifications:At least 2 years verifiable experience working on heavy duty equipmentMust possess a complete set of basic hand tools. (Specialty tools will be furnished.)Ability to learnAttention to detailMust be self-motivated and stay productive without close supervisionEffective communication skills are a key to success. Listening, reading, speaking, and writing in English is required.Must be able to work in a fast-paced environmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work outdoors, stand, walk, sit, climb into and out of vehicles, drive, reach, pull, push, lean, squat, lift, carry, see, talk, hear, read, write, tap screens, and type. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
