KBR is seeking a Technical Writer to join our Team in FRC Southwest San Diego and supporting the E2C2MP Fleet Support Team (FST).
The Technical Writer will analyze requirements, develop source material, consults engineering and technical staff and works with editors, illustrators and the like in preparing a draft.
Updates/maintains technical documents such as procedure manuals, service manuals, and related technical publications concerned with installation, operation, and maintenance of electronic, electrical, mechanical, and other equipment.
Gathers technical information, prepare moderately complex written text and graphics, and coordinate layout and manual organization.
Responds to time sensitive project scheduling, must be flexible to changing work schedules and/or emergent requirements.
Works independently with little or no supervision.
Provides quality reviews to ensure the integrity of products.
Performs all other duties as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Technology or related field, with at least 4 years of related experience. In lieu of formal education, 12 years of progressive related experience. Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.
Candidate must be skilled in the use of Broadvision/Quicksilver, Arbortext, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Adobe Illustrator and Intermediate experience using Arbortext for desktop publishing of S1000D.
The candidate must be a self-starter able to work with the Project Manager, Engineering personnel, and other SMEs to ensure all commitments and expectations are met.
Candidate must have excellent writing and communication skills.
Knowledge of Navy legacy technical manuals and IETMS preferred.
Selected applicant must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance. Clearance must be obtained by hiring date. Education/experience is a contract requirement.
