POSITION SUMMARY: A Toolmaker Apprentice is responsible to support Class A and Class B toolmakers in mold cleaning, mold set-up tasks, and light machining. The person in this position is working through continued education to become a toolmaker. The Toolmaker Apprentice reports to the Toolroom Supervisor.
Assist in scheduled and emergency tooling repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, cleaning, and mold set-ups.
Perform machining operations under the guidance of toolmakers to support tool room activities and schedules.
Recommends changes to mold designs to improve life of assets and output of assets.
Knowledge and understanding of toolroom practices and fabricating techniques
Follow all Key Operating Procedures, including but not limited to:
Company and facility Policies
Safety â?? Use of proper PPE; adherence to all applicable safety rules
SOPs â?? Methods for performing work
SSOP/Good Housekeeping standards
Communicate in a positive and respectful manner to resolve all issues
Complete all documentation accurately
Ask for help when the need arises
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: High School Diploma/GED â?? with secondary education in the machine tool trades in-process or recently completed.
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills, CAD skills in process or completed.
Other Requirements: Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications. Good troubleshooting and mechanical skills. Ability to work safely and effectively within a team
