Senior Accountant G&A Accounting

Job Description

This position is involved in all aspects of accounting for KBR’s Corporate Departments, including journal entry preparation, month-end closing and reporting, performing internal controls, and business performance analysis. Also included in the scope of work in the preparation of Corporate Department budgets and forecasts, and the related analytics and management reporting associated with this work. This individual interacts with his/her peers, Finance management, and other functional areas in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. He/ she will be expected to perform their responsibilities or lead others in achieving various initiatives, and at times, with little support from the Senior Manager.

Personal traits such as planning and organizing, oral and written communications skills, and a collaborative personality are needed to perform effectively. Technical abilities include experience with SAP, Costpoint, Hyperion Reporting, EPM FCCS, and other ERP software, Excel / Word / Access proficiency, and an understanding of GAAP.

The position reports to the Sr. Manager, Corporate Accounting

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Record, report and analyze actual financial performance for select Corporate departments
  • Participate in the preparation of budgets and interim forecasts for corporate departments
  • Prepare monthly B/S account reconciliations (KART)•Perform quarterly SOX controls and reviews
  • Participate in quarterly reviews with Finance management regarding corporate cost performance
  • Provide monthly/quarterly reports and analysis to internal and external auditors and respond regarding periodic information requests
  • Participate in department process improvement initiatives and various projects

Job Qualifications

  • Accounting Degree (advanced degree or CPA preferred)
  • Demonstrated work experience in the application of GAAP (3-5+ years)
  • Experience with SAP, Costpoint, EPM FCCS, Hyperion HFM, Essbase & Planning knowledge (preferred)
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office and other tools with demonstrated use in past work experience
  • Project management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Collaborative
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to details
  • Capable of multi-tasking, prioritizing, and working independently
