Kellogg Brown and Root Pty Ltd (KBR) are currently seeking applications from experienced and enthusiastic individuals looking to further their career in the training industry. The Mechanical Instructor role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis and will be located in Sydney.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work as part of a dynamic team in the delivery and development of contemporary technical systems training. The role is a permanent position based at the Royal Australian Navy’s training facility at Randwick Barracks in support of the Royal Australian Navy’s Auxiliary Oil Refuelling platform.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver ship-specific mechanical training using a blend of traditional and contemporary methods including advanced simulations
  • Provide innovative training development ideas to contribute to improvements in training outcomes
  • Assist in the review, analyse, design and develop new and existing training materials in support of overall project success
  • Work effectively with others and under time constraints
  • Liaise effectively with Clients and Subject Matter Experts to achieve project objectives
  • Conduct quality assurance review of training deliverables
  • Assist in the development of skills and capability within the team
  • Other ancillary duties as may be required

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in a mechanical or electrical engineering related technical field in a maritime environment
  • Cert III (min) in trade qualification
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or higher) or willing to acquire
  • Ability to develop high quality engaging lesson plans tailored to the learner
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience in using modern simulation systems and advanced training aid technology (pref)
  • Experience in contemporary learning and development contexts, including use of Learning Management Systems (pref)
  • Experience in training in a Defence (AOR platform) environment (pref)
  • Apply First Aid Certificate (pref)
  • Successful applicants must qualify for an Australian Government Security clearance to remain eligible for ongoing employment.
