SAIC is looking for a New Business Investment Manager to generate multi-year financial plans, business forecasts, and outcome analyses for our highest priority new offerings. This individual contributor will collaborate with stakeholders across the Strategic Growth and Innovation team as well as P&L owners in our sectors to help them shape and define business cases for new investments. You will excel in collaborating across functions and within teams to provide our product owners insights to help expand our market presence and execute company and customer-specific strategies. By transforming customer, market, and business model uncertainties into future-focused business cases you will identify and propose alternatives to overcome barriers and roadblocks, and influence portfolio decisions to maximize ROI .
By treating each product and/or service investment like a startup, and supporting the leadership team in managing the portfolio of internal investments like a venture portfolio, you will communicate economic value propositions to a broad audience of leaders. As a successful leader you will be responsible for Solutions and Delivery Innovation team business cases as well as investment reporting and analyses for periodic project and portfolio reviews. You may also be asked to supplement end to end analysis of business deals including working with end-customers, other business groups, and/or our corporate M&A and venturing groups to help design new and innovative go-to-market approaches to unlock long term strategies.
The candidate will have the financial depth and business experience to communicate the economic benefits of SAICs innovations to C-Level executives. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the creativity to tap into a variety of internal and external quantitative and qualitative data sources. Significant business case and modeling experience including ROI & business outcomes, analysis of sales and spend forecasts, generation of pro-forma P&Ls, and dashboarding KPIs around both strategy and process is needed. Previous experience in a division, corporate, or venture-investment focused business case development role is required, as is a working knowledge of financial analyses in entrepreneurial environments. Practical experience working for a federal government Tier 1 or 2 contractor with domain experience in IT and related services, IT and/or operational digital transformation, digital engineering, and/or software products is needed.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Develop a common approach for business case analyses to inform business plans across the SAIC maturity model for new products, services, and capability investments. Work across individual investment teams to deploy and maintain the required infrastructure, processes, and tools.
Create, maintain, and report top-down and/or bottoms-up forecasts for individual investments and the portfolio of them, highlighting the variety of potential vertical (customer) businesses’ outcomes providing visibility into their accounts and opportunities. Manage financial progress reports and periodic reviews in order to provide visibility and transparency to leaders in horizontal (capability) and vertical (customer) businesses.
Collaborate with others across finance, product management, business development, pricing, and procurement,& strategic among others to continuously improve models addressing productivity, operational resilience, and business agility, and growth. This will allow to further present to our customer’s full value proposition gained with SAIC services beyond immediate revenue, profit, and cost savings, to address market driven situations.
Assist in validating market and customer intelligence and related frameworks so we can be self-sufficient in addressing new and emerging market demands.
Prepare and present business reviews to the senior management team regarding progress towards and roadblocks in go-to-market for priority investments.
Work with product owners and their new program offerings via creation of financial models which will support go/no-go/stop/start/pivot decisions.
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience
Must have experience in similar role for commercial offerings either in a company and/or with startups
Must have a demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations,
Comfortable in a team environment with changing priorities
The ideal will have strong business sense and be highly analytical.
