SAIC has an opportunity for a Strategic and Operational Joint and Multinational Exercise Planner.  This position is located in Pearl City, Hawaii.
The Software, Simulation, System Engineering and Integration (S3I) Directorate, DEVCOM Aviation & Missile Center (AvMC) is supporting the USINDOPACOM and the K. Mark Takai Pacific Warfighting Center on Oahu, Hawaii.  This includes Modeling and Simulation (M&S) to support end to end life cycle development and execution, ensuring warfighter readiness and future capabilities are realized.
The Exercise Planner coordinates the planning and execution of joint and multinational exercises based on the Joint Training System, informed by strategic, security cooperation, exercise objectives and training readiness requirements.  Develops and briefs exercise options to senior client leaders, works with outside organizations and subordinate units during the Joint Event Life Cycle, and finalizes exercise planning by providing concept of operations and writing exercise directives.  Collects data and develops after action reports and builds after action briefings for senior client leaders. Utilizes existing resources to develop exercises for Joint and/or Combined/Coalition training events.




  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in addition to 5 years of experience relevant to Exercise Planning
  • Master's Degree is preferred


Required Experience Skills.

  • Former Field Grade Military Officer with an exercise planning background
  • Recent joint or sub-unified command staff experience with operations and/or plans background
  • Exercise planning experience at joint theater, joint functional or sub-unified commands, or significant joint exercise planning experience at major service command level
  • Experience with TPFDD development to support major joint operations and deployments of personnel and/or strategic lift requirements
  • Operational and/or logistical experience in the Indo-Pacific Theater
  • Knowledge of the operations, sustainment and logistical support required for exercises, deployments, and mobilizations
  • Strong interpersonal/social skills; proven staff officer/contractor support excellence
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 25% of the time


Desired Skills:

  • Previous service and experience in the USINDOPACOM Area of Responsibility in a 2-star or above headquarters
  • Knowledge of the Joint Training Information Management System (JTIMS) and Joint Operational Planning and Execution System (JOPES)
  • Experience with USINDOPACOM Joint Plans and Exercises
  • A graduate of Joint Professional Military Education
  • Previous qualification as a Joint Service Officer. 


Clearance Requirement:

  • Must have an active TOP SECRET Clearance with SCI eligibility
