Stress Engineer ?

  • Provide Primary and Secondary Structures Design and Analysis
  • Develop engineering products to mature the engineering configuration via development of layout deliverables & artifacts
  • Coordinate with interfacing teams & other stakeholders as required to ensure all Vehicle Design requirements are met
  • Release engineering datasets & strength reports as applicable
  • Structural and finite element analysis using code such as Patran/Nastran and Abaqus
  • Perform static, fatigue, fracture and damage tolerance analysis of metallic and composite primary and secondary structure.
  • Development of structural test plans
  • Structural configuration, optimization and sizing
  • Impact, durability and damage tolerance analysis
  • Perform Design optimization to reduce part count and mass (e.g., monolithic design)
  • Perform Design for Manufacturing/Affordability assessments as applicable
  • Coordinate with Program Engineering (Project, Design, Manufacturing, etc.) to ensure safety of designs
  • Prepare documentation of analysis reports and technical reports of the findings for review
  • Support products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements
  • Support Material Review Board and perform structural repair engineering, nonconformance analysis
  • Perform Stress Analysis (static, stiffness studies, etc.)
  • Perform Dynamics Analysis
  • Perform Mass Properties Analysis
  • Provide documentation to substantiate the design criteria and document analysis results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies requirements
  • Perform trade studies
  • Provide support equipment design and analysis
  • Support technical coordination meetings - discuss issues with interpreting engineering documentation, provide answers to technical questions regarding obsolescence and part adaptability, and ensure Boeing technical standards are being met.
  • Attend status meetings reflecting work packages received


  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.).
  • Ability to pass NASA background check.
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Experience with stress engineering
  • Experience with Patran/Nastran and Abaqus
